16 golfers assembled at Ashridge Golf Club in late October, including a small number of guests. Whilst conditions were wet underfoot, the rain held off and we enjoyed some fine end-of-season golf.
Ashridge is the perfect venue and the Society was very well looked after indeed: both the Course and the catering were as good as ever and we delivered a proper round of applause, organised by James Skelton, to show our appreciation.
The day is deliberately set up in a fun format with 3 scores counting from each 4-ball. Despite the ground conditions, the heavy cavalry prevailed with James Shaw, Skelly, Andrew Saunders and guest Chris Millward representing the Old Cholmeleians returning a hugely respectable 124 points – and that with two auditors in the team!
The winning margin was 9 points so a large prize for the only 2 of the day, went to Ainsley Sykes one of our other guests. All 16 golfers were present for the team photo on the balcony at Ashridge, overlooking the Course.
Many thanks to Simon Shepherd for running the day and providing this report!
