On an overcast and quite chilly afternoon 9 OSGS members gathered for a round a golf at Edgbaston Golf Club. This parkland course is set in the heart of Birmingham with views of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Old Joe, the tall imposing clocktower, in the centre of the University of Birmingham Campus.
The first trio were led out by our current OSGS President, Will Painter, with Anthony Smith, our Past President and Mark Ferguson, a former Halford Hewitt team player. They enjoyed the course but found the greens tricky.
The next trio was hosted by James Onions, our host for the day, with Tim Dakin, making the trip down from Derbyshire and the Hon Sec. The three of them had a competitive match.
The last trio was make up of Will Brinkman, another location Edgbaston member with Cennydd Bowles up from London combining some business in Birmingham and Neil Smith coming over from Nottinham. They too enjoyed the course.
Winners were as follows:
Nearest the Pin on 7th – Will Brinkman
Nearest the Pin in 2 on 11th – Willl Painter
Longest Drive on 15th – Mark Ferguson
The Stableford Results were as follows:
4th Place with 34 Points – Neil Smith
3rd Place with 35 Points – Mark Ferguson
2nd Place with 36 Points – Tim Dakin
The Winner with 38 Points – James Onions

Many thanks to James Onions for helping to organise and host us at Edgbaston and Will Brinkman for signing in people too.
We hope to repeat this meeting next year. Three of us stayed on for the Midlands OS Dinner in the clubhouse later in the evening which was a great success.
