Our 60th visit to Trentham was a great day out after the deluge of rain on the day before. The course was in fantastic condition, we had a couple of sharp showers, but in the end the sun shone and the 12 OSGS players enjoyed some challenging golf.
We were fortunate to be hosted by four local OSGS members namely Jonathan & Julian Mitchell, Rob Bennett and Chris Bullock. They each took 2 other OSGS members around the curse to show us the way,
We played a Medal Round from the Back Tees and our new OSGS President, Will Painter, prevailed with the Best Gross Score of 78 winning the Eustace Storey Putter. The runner up was Simon Shepherd.
The Best Net Score of 70 was Rob Bennett who was presented with the Tommy Hall Cup. The runner up was the Hon Sec.
It was great to see one of our Honorary Vice Presidents, Robert Lanyon, walking on the course and watching the golf. We hope to see you playing again next year Robert!!!
Post the golf we enjoyed a sumptuous 2 course supper and chatted about golf, the universe and everything else. The past President ,Anthony Smith, formally welcomed Will as the New President. In turn, Will thanked Anthony for his commitment and leadership of the OSGS throughout the last ten years. The OSGS have purchased Anthony a new Maverick 3 Wood as a leaving present. We wish him well in his retirement; and he too has been elected as an Honorary Vice President of the OSGS in recognition of all his efforts over the years and his significant contribution to OS Golf.
